THE VILLAGE MARKETS

We were lucky enough to score the sunniest day of the week for our pop-up stall at The Village Markets on the Gold Coast. It was really fun taking Oh Deer on the road for the first time! Michael, being a road veteran from previously driving all over Australia with his band, was excited to show me the journey & point out the sights.

The Village Markets were celebrating their third birthday, with thunder storms the night before & the day after we all were so lucky to have a perfect sunny day, not a cloud in the sky! The markets are set out in two parallel rows, with over 50 stalls on either side facing each other, a mixture of vintage & designer, arts & crafts. On a large flat school oval, it's a nice and spacious set up. The atmosphere was relaxed, with live acoustic artists & lots of people getting around in their bathers, after a dip in the ocean (which is just on the opposite side of the highway). We were allocated a spot about 200 meters from the entrance, with good friend OmDiddyOm Vintage to our left & the lovely Wild Heart Jewellery to our right. It really was so fun being out in the sun & working along side like minded people as well as meeting all the lovely customers! It made our day when a lovely lady stopped in wearing a pair of Oh Deer Denim shorts that we had posted to her only weeks ago :)

Now we've had a taste of outdoor markets we're tempted to plan a tour! We spend most of our time working online so getting out & about is very refreshing :)

Unfortunately we only got a few snaps as we were busy deers but be sure to check out TVM's website or facebook page for more info. We highly suggest a visit if you are on the Gold Coast!

SANGRIA & LACE

We had such an amazing time being part of the Sangria & Lace market & exhibition a few weekends ago. This was the Launch event of Sangria & Lace, which exhibits vintage clothing, fine art, photography, independent music, local designer labels, accessories, craft, short film & more.

The event stemmed from the mind of the wonderful, creative & talented Anna Lina, an idea to create an event that showcases the work of all the local creative & talented people in our hometown. We helped her and a small team to organise the event, and after a few months of those two words being uttered constantly between us, the day finally arrived :)

Thank you to everyone and anyone who visited, donated a pretty penny in exchange for hand-made goods or delicious sangria, or lent a helping hand, you all supported us in one way or another & made this event the huge success that it was!

So here are some photographs of the event taken by Rachel & Emily Merrick. For the full album of photographs from the event find them on the Sangria & Lace facebook page, here.
